Tips for Traveling with an InfantAs a mother, you need to know some of the basic tips for traveling with an infant.

In fact, if you are like me (who jitters by the name of traveling) then traveling with baby may appear to be one of the most daunting tasks ever.

I am always scared of traveling and now with a cute little son, I even more scared.

Perhaps it is for this reason that I do maintain a note pad before I go out with my son.

I do make it a point to keep a note of everything I have to take with myself so that I don’t regret later.

After all, I am traveling with a baby and I can in no way see him in trouble owing to my negligence.

Thus, as a mothe  it is essential that you take into account their safety and security so that they are able to travel with ease and comfort.

Often a few questions which always come to my mind before I go for a journey are something like – how can I travel safely with my infant? What should I pack for the travel? How can I make my travel an enjoyment and fun rather than troublesome?

If it is for the first time that you are traveling with your toddler then there are some essential tips and tricks to keep in mind. You need to go for a proper planning and preparation before you move out with your baby.

Some Essential Tips for Traveling With an Infant by Plane or Road

There are many airlines which offer pre-boarding. So you should come early and take advantage if this is allowed in the airline you are traveling.

This will give you a few minutes to relax and settle down with ease. You should also talk to the air hostess for support with regard to heating water bottle or providing anything you might have forgotten to take with you.

What some of the parents might ignore or forget about is the protection of your baby from germs. You might be traveling by train or car or airplane but germs are everywhere which might be harmful for the newborn. Therefore it is very much important that before traveling you should give your baby flu vaccine which will protect your baby.

It is also important that you should take a few emergency medications for your baby. Talk to your baby’s pediatrician about your travel and ask him for some emergency medicines which you might need in case your child suffers from cough and cold, loose motions or vomiting etc.

Traveling With A Baby by Road or Train

If you are going by road, you need to start an hour or so before so that you are able to take small breaks in between. You should start early so that after every 3-4 hours you are able to stop and let you and your baby relax.

Yet another essential thing to keep in mind is how you dress your baby for the travel. Remember not to dress him in tight fitting clothes, it is important that his clothes are loose and of natural fabric like cotton.

Once I had a harrowing experience when I was traveling with my one year old son and hubby by train. The little one was suffering from cough and cold and twice he vomited even. But thankfully we had his medicines as well as extra clothes in our bag, so we can just pacify him.

What to Keep in Your Baby’s Travel Bag

In order to have a tension free travel, it is important that you prepare a complete list of must have products which you should keep in your baby’s travel bag:

You need to take with yourself a Diaper bag with enough number of diapers which might be needed on the way. This also depends upon the number of hours of your journey.

  • Multiple clothes for the toddler are important since these cute babies are very good at spoiling their clothes.
  • Baby wearing device and baby carrier are a must have for the travel.
  • If your destination is a bit away you might even need to take a baby stroller.
